The situation of women vicitms of war rape or other forms of sexual violence in BiH
Executive Summary of the Follow-up Report to the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, it’s causes and consequences with participation of Foundation of Local Democracy has been sent today.

In May 2011, TRIAL and 12 associations working with women victims of rape or other forms of sexual violence during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) submitted a general allegation to the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, Its Causes and Consequences on the obstacles faced in the fulfilment of their basic rights by  this group of people. From 28 October to 6 November 2012 the Special Rapporteur conducted a visit to the country and then issued a report containing her findings and recommendations.

Two years after the Special Rapporteur’s mission to BiH,  TRIAL and 13 local associations (Women’s Section of the Concentration Camp Torture Survivors Canton Sarajevo, Centre for Legal Assistance to Women Zenica,  Association Forum žena, Foundation of Local Democracy, Association of Women from Prijedor – Izvor, Association of Women Sehara, Association of Women-Victims of War, Section of WomenVictims of War in Republika Srpska, Medica Zenica, Naš Glas Association, Snaga Žene, FoundationUnited Women, and Vive Žene Tuzla) decided to assess the status of implementation of therecommendations and to inform the Special Rapporteur on the matter, as well as on newly emerged challenges. For the purposes of the present follow-up report, the subscribing associations decided to focus only on the recommendations concerning women victims of rape or other forms of sexual violence during the war. The fact that other subjects are not covered, should not be interpreted by  any means in the sense that the subscribing associations consider that other recommendations have duly  been implemented by BiH.
