For a Life Without Violence in Sarajevo Canton – Phase III

Implementation period: 01.12.2022. – 31.11.2024.

Through the implementation of the project activities, work will be carried out on adapting the policies and legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to international standards, as well as increasing allocations from public budgets for the prevention of and protection against gender-based violence. In Sarajevo Canton, conditions will be created for building economic, social and cultural equality – gender equality, as well as for a life without violence.

This objective will be achieved through the consolidation, expansion and promotion of the sustainability of protection and prevention services against gender-based violence, based on cooperation between the governmental and non-governmental sectors, and will be implemented through several interconnected strategies:

• strengthening the role, capacities and cooperation between civil society organizations that are members of the SAFE Network and institutional actors, along with the implementation of political advocacy campaigns aimed at adapting the policies and legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to international standards and increasing public budget support in the fight against gender-based violence;
• continuation of the coordination of the work and activities of the institutional public sector with civil society through the work of the Coordination Body for the Prevention of and Fight Against Domestic Violence in Sarajevo Canton;
• strengthening the response capacities of health services in Sarajevo Canton in terms of providing support to women who are victims of gender-based violence, including sexual violence;
• continuation of the work of the Women’s Centre - providing free legal, psychological and economic support for victims of violence in Sarajevo Canton;
• continuation of the work activation programme for women
