Implementation period: 01.11.2024.-31.10.2027.
The main objective of the project is to improve the overall response to domestic violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina by strengthening the network of civil society organizations in order to enable better coordination, capacity building and collective advocacy for the prevention of and fight against domestic violence and gender-based violence.
The Safe Network BiH is a network of non-governmental organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina established in 2001 for the purpose of more effective combating of gender-based violence, and reactivated in 2011.
Over the past 25 years, permanent members of the Safe Network in seven safe houses in BiH have provided protection and other specialized support services to victims of domestic violence, such as a SOS telephone line, free legal aid, psychological support, and economic empowerment.
With financial support from the OAK Foundation, the Safe Network is developing into a strong and influential organization capable of effectively advocating for the improvement of the position of victims of domestic violence and providing them with the necessary assistance and support. By signing a Cooperation Protocol with the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH, the Safe Network established cooperation with a government institution at the state level on the implementation of the Istanbul Convention. Representatives of the network participate in working groups for the development of strategic documents at all levels of government.
Through the proposed project, the Safe Network will continue to strengthen its capacities as well as the capacities of its members, increase cooperation with state institutions at all levels of government in order to jointly work on improving the position of women and children who are victims of domestic violence in accordance with the Istanbul Convention.
The Safe Network will continue to advocate for the adoption of new legal solutions, as well as securing budgetary funds for the establishment and sustainability of specialized services for victims of domestic violence. It will also advocate for the establishment of specialized support services for victims of sexual violence.
The Network will also work on raising public awareness of zero tolerance for violence against women, as well as increasing the visibility of the Safe Network.
