The officialimplementation of the EU fundedproject "SocialHousingSystem (SHS) - Development of an integrated model in theory and practice" has started on 2 July 2013. The totalprojectvalue is € 1,679,000, out of which 1 millionEuros was provided by the European Union and € 679,000 by the localauthorities and HilfswerkAustria International.
The project is implemented by HilfswerkAustria International in partnership with the Foundation for LocalDemocracy in BiH.
In the next 20 months of project’simplementation, permanenthousing for 62 sociallyvulnerablefamilies will be provided and adoption of strategies and relevantsocial care legislationinitiated at the state level.
The project will develop and recommend an integrativesustainable model of socialhousing with specialemphasis on the sociallyvulnerablecategories, provideopportunities for access to socialservices for vulnerablegroups and constructsixapartmentbuildings with 62 residentialunits in sixprojectlocations, municipalities Jablanica, Prozor-Rama and Stari Grad Sarajevo in BiH Federation, the city of Bijeljina in Republika Srpska and BrckoDistrict BiH.
Representatives of administrativebodies in targetedlocations will be trained and coordinated by experiencedstaff of HilfswerkAustria International and Foundation for LocalDemocracy, as well as directlyinvolved in the implementation of projectactivities, providingbasicprerequisites for theirsuccessfulimplementation.
