The Foundation of Local Democracy and the Majlis of the Islamic Community of the Canton of Sarajevo signed an agreement of cooperation

The Local Democracy Foundation and the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Sarajevo Canton have signed an agreement of cooperation within the project "Safe together: Making non-traditional partnerships at the local level between safe houses and religious communities in BiH for the promotion of the rights of survivors of sexual violence and war"

By signing this agreement, both parties committed to working on the rights of war victims, with the goal of overcoming war trauma, but also providing systemic support to war victims as well as victims of the general gender.

The cooperation between the Local Democracy Foundation and the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Sarajevo Canton includes, among other things:

- Creation of a joint action plan that would include activities aimed at exchanging knowledge, experience, and skills between the signatories;

- Informing and raising the awareness of religious officials and professional staff about the rights of women, victims of gender-based violence, and the availability of services needed by surviving victims;

- Engagement of religious officials and professional staff in all local communities to be a voice opposing the stigmatization of survivors in accordance with their resources and capacities;

 - Participation in joint activities and campaigns that contribute to the promotion of the rights of survivors of gender-based violence (with a focus on survivors of sexual violence in war and domestic violence);

We believe that the cooperation of the Local Democracy Foundation and the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Canton Sarajevo will contribute to the improvement of the quality of life and the empowerment of persons who survived sexual violence in the war; members of their families, as well as the prevention of various forms of violence with a special focus on domestic violence.
