Duration of implementation
01.08.2018. - 31.07.2020.
Reason (need) for project implementation
Although 24 years have passed since the end of the war, women victims of war are still on the societal margins in BiH. Most do not have comprehensive support and care or access to (all / some) legal, psychological and financial assistance services. As a result, their social exclusion is growing, affecting not only their lives and the lives of their families but also the quality (and then the number) of their testimony in war crimes courts.
In parallel, relevant governmental stakeholders do not have full insight into ways of collecting and documenting information on sexual violence that are in line with international mechanisms but do not have an insight into the problem in the field that women victims of war face especially when it comes to the secrecy of the protected witness data and protected witness identities in cases of litigation
What changes will it bring / impact
Women (victims of war), relevant stakeholders: representatives of the courts, judges' associations, judges, representatives of associations of war victims, representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC)
What changes will it bring / impact
This project will enhance the psychological, legal and economic empowerment for female victims of war through the provision of counselling, income-generation tools, vocational trainings and free legal aid, but also will strengthen enforcement of existing legislation and the rule of law, and harmonization with human rights standards.
