This year as well, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has allocated funds to support victims of domestic violence through the work of safe houses and free SOS helplines for reporting violence. On this occasion, a contract signing ceremony for the co-financing of safe houses and SOS telephone lines was organized at the Ministry’s premises last Friday (22 May). On behalf of the Foundation of Local Democracy, the contract was signed by Executive Director Jasmina Mujezinović, who emphasized the importance of a systematic response to domestic violence. She also used the opportunity to thank the Federal Ministry, headed by Minister Adnan Delić, for its continuous support.

“Providing funds for the co-financing of accommodation and support for survivors of domestic violence is a legal obligation within the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, as defined by the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence and Violence against Women. This is the first time that the SOS helpline service has been financed directly from the Budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on one of the six rulebooks that our Ministry was required to adopt following the adoption of the Law. In this way, for the first time, we are systematically regulating and financially supporting this important service for victims of violence,” Minister Delić stated on this occasion.
He added that the goal is to ensure more stable and sustainable functioning of safe houses and the SOS helpline so that victims of violence can have access at all times to protection, support, and a safe place for accommodation.
