This week, the Local Democracy Foundation and the Jewish Municipality in Sarajevo signed a cooperation agreement within the project "Safe Together: Establishing Non-Traditional Partnerships at the Local Level between Safe Houses and Religious Communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to Advance the Rights of Survivors of Sexual Violence in War".
By signing this agreement, both parties undertook to work on improving the rights of surviving war victims, with the aim of overcoming war trauma, but also providing systemic support to war victims, as well as victims of gender-based violence in general.
Cooperation between the Foundation for Local Democracy and the Jewish Municipality in Sarajevo includes, among other things:
- Creation of a joint action plan that would include activities aimed at exchanging knowledge, experience, and skills between the signatories;
- Joint organization of thematic public events and presentations, gatherings, and educations in the field of rights of survivors of gender-based violence;
- Participation in joint activities and campaigns that contribute to the promotion of the rights of survivors of gender-based violence (with a focus on survivors of sexual violence in war and domestic violence).
We believe that the cooperation between the Foundation of Local Democracy and the Jewish Municipality in Sarajevo will contribute to the improvement of the quality of life and the empowerment of persons who survived sexual violence in the war; members of their families, as well as the prevention of various forms of violence with a special focus on domestic violence.
